Protein synthesis in Giardia with cryo-EM

2023-03-17

Giardia is a protozoan parasite that causes harmful diarrhea to mammals including human. Suparna Sanyal’s group has recently solved Giardia ribosome structures in various states of protein synthesis using cryo-Electron Microscopy. Important is that these are all native structures achieved without using any inhibitor, analogues or mutation. The study, conducted in collaboration with Staffan Svärd group is published in Nucleic Acids Research.
