at the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology. The position is permanent with a 6-month probationary period.
The position is in Associate Professor Sebastian Deindl’s laboratory in the Program for Molecular Systems Biology (http://deindl-lab.com/). The research group focuses its efforts on the study of the structure and dynamics of molecular machines using advanced fluorescence imaging and structural biology approaches. One major focus are nucleic-acid interacting enzymes whose aberrant function or dysregulation is often associated with severe diseases such as cancer.
Work description: You will work in an international research team with the ultimate goal to understand the fundamental mechanisms that enable function and regulation of molecular machines. The work includes lab management, purchase of reagents, and operational responsibility for equipment on the one hand, and laboratory work such as the purification of proteins and nucleosomes on the other hand. You will have a pivotal role in an organization that performs research on an internationally competitive level and you will collaborate daily with members of the research team and the department.
Qualifications required: Master of Science in Microbiology or Molecular Biology. Good communication skills in English.
Desired qualifications: Documented skills in bio-molecular techniques such as PCR and cloning as well as protein purification and biochemistry are meriting. The ability to communicate in Swedish is a plus. The ability to interact socially with the rest of the group will be highly valued when selecting a candidate, as will other personal characteristics such as sense of responsibility, accuracy, creativity and problem solving abilities.
